Fall 2022 Sunday School Unit Recap
We started off our fall unit of Sunday School with the questions, Is God real? and How big is God’s imagination? After that the children submitted their own questions. As with all good inquiries, these ones are too deep to answer quickly or definitively, so I present them for you to savor again:
Does God hate anyone?
What does God look like and what does God do?
If you pray and your friend is praying, how does God answer both of your prayers?
What does God say about us and does God have opinions?
Is God ever sad?
Out of these provocative questions came some big new ideas we imagined about God together:
God thought of us us first.
God’s imagination is bigger than we can imagine.
When Jesus is here, everybody eats.
When we see love, we see God.
God connects us all together.
God calls us supremely good.
God’s heart is always the first to break.
For our last few Sundays in fall, we will be considering a few final questions during children’s chat:
What is God’s hair color?
How did God come to earth?
How would you answer these questions?
A huge thanks to Pastor Brent and this season’s teachers, Sarah Maulden, Martha Bale, Tiffini Adams, Megan Hanrahan, Steve Ritchey, Karen Spiroff, Nan and Tom Sturgeon, Amy Spratling, and Linda Hilton, and to our young questioners. I invite us all to savor these questions, and to never stop questioning.
love, Pastor Chelsea
