Crane Festival

Youth fundraiser dinner Saturday, May 21 at 5 p.m.

Please join us on Saturday, May 21 at 5 p.m. in McMullen Hall for an HUCC Youth Fundraiser to Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Dinner tickets are $15 and may be purchased in advance at church.

The event will feature dinner catered by Cupbop with other Asian foods, and arts and crafts including bracelets and origami peace cranes. Masks are required when not eating or drinking.

Please contact Pastor Chelsea by May 16 if there is an Asian food speciality you would like to make and donate as a side dish; vegetarian and vegan contributions are encouraged. We are also seeking donated bottles of wine and sake, and Asian items for prizes for a raffle to support refugee resettlement. Contribution signups are needed by May 16th.

Thank you so much for supporting this youth-led fundraiser for the Utah AAPI community!

Celebrated in May each year, Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month recognizes the challenges faced by Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Native Hawaiians and their vital contributions to the American story. Origami peace cranes are a Japanese symbol of peace, health and good fortune. In 2021, HUCC youth Alle Maulden completed the folding of 1,000 cranes, inspiring us to fold peace cranes to celebrate our ongoing recovery from COVID-19.
